Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

I haven’t been to a lot of zoos in my 33 years, but this one takes the prize for uniqueness for sure…

We started with the giraffe feeding… which was weird and hilarious at the same time.

There was a fun kids play area,

with some overtly phallic mushrooms…

The whole zoo is built on the side of a mountain in Colorado Springs, so everywhere we went was uphill, both ways.  Towards the end, we rode the ski lift and I had a panic attack thinking about one of the kids falling out.  While we rode over the tiger and bear cages…

At the top of the ski lift there was a yurt, as well as a climbing wall, and some other random things..

In the warthog area, there was a dead zebra…

Ok.  It was fake.

Then we stopped and fed the giraffes on the way out again.

We love those long tongues.

Oh my GOSH!! I want to feed the giraffes!! haha. But seriously, since when can you just feed exotic animals at the zoo? That's awesome! Now I really do have to come visit you ;)

Nice Zoo. Hogle Zoo is also built on a mountain, and I think that is just wrong. (Not as bad as your mountain, but zoos should be on a nice flat plain)
