Soccer Legs

Generally, soccer players (especially professionals), seem to be a little more compact in stature, and have fantastically wonderful upper legs.  Ask any woman who has been forced to watch the world cup.  They are looking at legs, not the game.  I think it is because we only get a little peek-a-boo of that area between socks and shorts, kind of like this:

Ok, so the 6 year old version has a little more bone and a lot less muscle.  Stuart started soccer a few weeks ago and it has been a great outlet for him to blow off some of that little boy energy that gets trapped in his body during the 6 hours of school each day.  His team has gotten slaughtered at all the games so far, but they are having tons of fun running, screaming, and playing keep away from the ball and each other.

But back to the soccer legs…I’ve never been forced to watch the world cup, nor would voluntarily do so, but I will admit that David Beckham is a little easier on the eyes than some of the hockey players I’ve been forced to watch, gotten to know these past 10 years…

Perhaps instead of subscribing to NHL Center Ice this fall and watching 400 hockey games, we should be tuning in to a little more pro soccer. 

Disclaimer: I know nothing of the character of pro soccer players, especially David Beckham, so even though he is much nicer to look at, I am not promoting any kind of role model choice for Stuart.  Teeth, or no teeth, hockey players in general seem to be a little less egomaniacal and have an overall sense of humility that seems lacking in other professional athletes.
