HALFWAY DONE!!!! Though for me I think the last half of pregnancy is usually the hardest. We decided to take Stuart and Grace to the ultrasound today in spite of the risk to my blood pressure (actually, my blood pressure is always surprisingly low). Grace was high as a kite in the waiting area and Stuart was engrossed in a Anne Geddes book filled with photos of mostly naked women in all stages of pregnancy and motherhood. As soon as I laid down in the chair and the ultrasound tech put the wand on my belly, Grace started crying. I think she either thought they were hurting me or the baby, which of course we assured her was not the case, or maybe she was disturbed by the photos of Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Daniel Craig which were conveniently placed on the ceiling above my chair (what is that about?). We did not find out what gender the baby is (by choice), but everything looked good (as good as alien-like babies can look anyway). Here’s the evidence: (I think it must be the 3-D imaging that gives it the extra freakish qualities—which by the way was not some special thing we paid extra for, it’s just the equipment they have does both, so that’s what they gave us.)
So here’s the face, and on the left side of the photo is an arm/hand on its face, and on the right side, I think that is a knee in its eye. It was EXTREMELY contorted (as you will see below).
So, the baby is pretty much in a ball here, with legs above the head, knee in the nose, and an extreme case of hemorrhoids between the legs. By the way, those are not testes, testicles, scrotum, or penis. So don’t go calling things like they aren’t.
I was thinking about saving this one to show on Halloween, but it is basically a view from the back of spine, scapula, etc. Isn’t it a little Edvard Munch like?
Or more Picasso?
Now, if only they could tell if the baby was refluxing. I am hanging on to the prevacid we still have leftover from Elise. Just in case. Because I am counting on it.
